FREEDOM NOW!!! WE'LL CATCH UP LATER...
Thank you SF Team Tibet for the words that follow.
The Olympic torch arrived in San Francisco on Wednesday, April 9th as part of its so-called "Journey of Harmony." In just a few weeks, Chinese authorities plan to carry the Torch through Tibet in a show of control over Tibet's land and people. For Tibetans inside Tibet, the situation is far from harmonious as they continue to resist the Chinese government's brutal military crackdown. On Thursday, April 3rd, eight Tibetans were killed when Chinese troops opened fire on protesters in eastern Tibet.
The Chinese government had hoped to use the global Olympic Torch Relay to present a new image to the rest of the world and divert attention from its brutal treatment of Tibet and human rights abuses at home and abroad. We protested to make sure that the Chinese government- and the international community- knows that China will only be fully accepted in the global arena when its government substantially improves its Tibet policies and negotiates a resolution to Tibet's occupation.
Parading the Olympic Torch through Tibet when protests have just been violently crushed and the entire region is on military lockdown is likely to provoke further protests and resentment among Tibetans, leading to more imprisonments, torture, and repression. Join us in calling on the International Olympic Committee to withdraw Tibet from the Olympic Torch Relay now!
Please contact the U.S. Olympic Committee today and ask them to urge the International Olympic Committee to immediately remove Tibet from the Torch Relay route in order to prevent further protest and violent repression in Tibet. Please take action today!
CONTACT: Mr. Peter Ueberroth, President, United States Olympic Committee
TEL: 949 975 2900 / FAX: 949 975 2916 / EMAIL: international@usoc.org
Please use the following talking points as a guideline when sending a message to Mr. Ueberroth:
Express your concern that the International Olympic Committee still plans to carry the Olympic Torch through Tibetan areas, despite the current protests and crackdown in Tibet.
Explain that carrying the torch through Tibet in this tense climate is needlessly provocative and is likely to lead to more unrest, arrests, and repression.
Celebrating the Olympic Torch in Tibet while Tibetans are being suppressed by China's military forces is the antithesis of what the torch is supposed to stand for: the peaceful coming together of people around the world.
Tell President Bush to Stand on the Right Side of History!
As well, please urge President Bush not to attend the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in August. In the wake of the bloody and continuing crackdown in Tibet we are calling on all political leaders not to attend. You can reach the U.S. President at 202 456 1111 or by email at comments@whitehouse.gov.
Had the lil' bohemians and I protested this very protest in China, we would not be alive to tell the tale... and yes, my fingers cramped painfully, I almost choked, my eyes were blinded by tears, my tongue bled as I typed the word President before the word Bush but out of respect for my Tibetan brethren I had to remain true to their original words.
As for me and my disappeared-from-the-blogosphere-and-where-the-hell-did-I-go whereabouts... stay tuned for a recap. 'Tis imminent FO SHO!

Oh good lord, MizB is back and in fighting form
What did I do without you? Oh email right :)
It's so weird to think of the country of the Dali Lama as being under such horrible such siege
But uh ask Bush to do something right?
Has Loverboy been giving you some illicit treatments?
Bush has eight and half or so more months to do as much harm as possible
On another note me love love love love the new template
It's so MizzyB
My WV says faxmy on still another absurd note. My no longer own a fax....so 1997
Yes. This,
I'll raise you one. Every free country left on the trail should have their olympic committee reject the torch parade completely. Boycotting the Games is always a bad plan, but our athletes aren't punished if we boycott the pomp and circumstance surrounding them. And call for the boycott of the TV coverage of the opening ceremony
In the immortal words of the less hateful Bush, This aggression will not stand.
Pia- :-)
And those emails have most definitely been the highlight of my disappearance and you my link to the blogosphere FO SHO!
It is utterly heartbreaking... and this matter is near and dear to my heart for reasons ranging from having many close Tibetan monk friends and feeling such a tie to Tibet to begin with that I had to post SF Team Tibet's words before I got to mine.
As for Bush... I quite agree and added some text with regards to that. That moron, and I am being SO mild by calling that fuck a moron (oops!), will never get anything right, I'm afraid and he will most definitely do as much harm as possible in his remaining months and then some...
SO glad you liked the new digs! Would not be the same without your approval my dearest Pia!
:-)
Have a beautiful evening my dear and thank you for the beautiful and warm welcome back!
Wombat- Oh I completely agree with you. The Team Tibet list of demans is humble... mine would be stricter, more to the point and demanding... Over the years I have heard many a tale that the media does not tell, about the continuous torture in China's concentration camps and that was when there were no protests going on so imagine now...
My close friend Lama Chönam's family are nomads and they are currently being held in a remote area of Tibet, without permission as to leave the premises. The Chinese military is going door to door in Lhasa checking people for permits, dragging many to concentration camps and people are being killed left and right... these are the first hand accounts and so...
I do feel bad for the athletes... designating Beijing an appropriate site for the Olympics 7 years ago was a HUGE mistake and now they are caught in the crossfire.
As my dear and compassionate Tibetan friends keep saying, hopefully there is a greater good awaiting all this chaos and pain at the end of the road.
SO good to see you here my dear Wombat!
Of course Wombat was there. Told you you were missed
Couldn't watch the vid before. It was your best
Loved LilMizB-she looked like she understood and she lost her accent
The Olympics does pick the wrong cities at the wrong times. For some reason I think the Olympics were more meaningful pre-1970's
Probably hit its peak when Jesse Owens, I think, stood up to Hitler
And there's something about purity. I know America only let professionals after other countries did but the point of the Olympics for thousands of years was to have an ammature competition I feel sorry for the ones who participate for love of the sport--whatever sport
I know I know--training costs money. Maybe that money could be put to use for more humantarian efforts, and the costs of training be picked up but not time
Maybe each athlete could be required to teach poor kids their sport--I know I'm way off topic but the Olympics lost their purity and consequences like this happen
Miz B is Back! We love you and miss you and it is fo-sho great news that you are bendin' stretchin' back to the hyphen-deprived-without-your-words blogosphere!
Your SF amigo, FreeThinker (who's still on a bloggin' hiatus!)
Mizzy B I just go tin fro Mexico and am all ativaned out, AND IT'S CLOSE TO 2 AM. I will for sure back at my first opportunity.
kISSES
Pia- :-) Yes you did... as for Wombat, he is just a lovable and dear, dear friend... and more!
Glad you liked the vid. Yes, she does understand which is why she liked being there and she keeps insisting on wearing her headband to school. She has caught the "making a statement" bug and is still high off it! Does my heart good to see that.
I don't think you're off topic at all. I would say that the trouble with the Olympics is that they operate on the bullshit idealistic view that the Olympics and politics do not mix when it obviously is quite the opposite. The very first statement that should be made with the Olympics is with their choice of venue and they really fucked up with Beijing and well, they had this coming to them and I really do not feel bad for the athletes, as politically incorrect as that may be of me...
I prefer the athletes live through some heartbreak and disappointment and that the Tibetans get the eyes of the world turned on them (because it's about damn time!) than for the world to shut it for the sake of the athtletes... not that you believe otherwise but that is my off topic from your comment I suppose! Oy! ;-P
Freethinker- My San Francisco amigo I have yet to meet!!! What's up with that???
:-)
Thank you for the sweet words! I am still rusty at this and after having been in the real world under my real name only for so long, it is refreshing to be back as Miz B... hopefully soon I can let loose in true Miz B fashion. Takes getting used to but man does it feel good!
Methinks someone needs to join me in making a comeback? *hint, hint*
Cooperina! Oh my dear, the fact that you just got in from Mexico and it's 2 am and you still were able to say hi to me does my heart good and flitter flatters me FO SHO!
I had missed you so and am so happy to hear from you in whatever way, shape or form! Besos and rest up my dearest amiga!
Indeed, he should not go, the IOC is a bunch of hypocrites and China is still one of the worst human right violators around, even though for some unexplained reason they were recently taken off the list of the worlds top ten worst by the U. friggin N. - who admitted they still had a pretty sick human rights record and had no real reason to take them off the list.
That you write again, make me happy. I will sleep well tonight.
How about those banner=hangers on the bridge? They were amazing.
I miss your jolly posts...
Stay well and peace
Cooperina muy divina- Is it not sick what money and owning half our country does to a "petty" thing such as human rights?
The sick thing, and unexplainable to me,about the vigil was that, of all people, Dianne Feinstein's husband was a speaker there too! The fucker has millions invested in China and it is no secret that they are, perhaps quietly or so they think, supporters of the régime so his presence there was terrible... baffled many people. We live in a hypocritical planet I'm afraid and the monster we are fighting is quite powerful, dangerous and lacking in morals and humanity.
*sigh*
And that you are here and I get to be in touch with you again does my heart and soul much good! All is well with my universe again. Sleep tight sweet Cooperina!
Terry- They were amazing and inspiring indeed! There was a fundraiser and get-together of sorts Thursday night in Sausalito for them organized through the Tibetan Alliance of Northern California but, alas, I was unable to attend! But at least, if ever they are to be celebrated and helped anywhere, it is here in this wondrous Bay Area of ours!
:-) Thank you... and I miss yours and am glad to be back... sort of! :-)
Be well and besos!
Ya Baby! The Boheme-a-Roni San Francisco treat is back YAY!
I loathe the Oly Committe members who trapse all over the world collecting graft and expensive gifts while the athletes live on cabbage soup and government cheese.
Gawd! How f*cking stupid could they be to think that the entire world would ignore Tibet and Tiannamen...
do they seriously think that the Olys are some great 'buy the world a coke' unifer of Nations? It's a huge whorehouse pissing match!
They should just have the gawdam thing in Athens every year, the athletes should compete as individuals with no trace of their nationality, or they should go all the way and let celebrities use steroids to compete.
I am sick of it.
Welcome back, welcome back!!! So happy to see you!!! And what a great post to start out with...in true MizBohemia fashion, protesting against injustices of the world, with the children!
Man I hope I can be as worldly a mom as you, I want to be able to take my future kids to protests, to make them aware of the world and to fight for the weak and poor and against oppressors all over.
As for China, how appropriate that their torch ceremony did get such bad press, I think the whole ceremony should be done away with considering it was started with the Nazi Olympics.
So happy to see you back in blogsphere!!!
HE- You know my dear, you are brilliant and absolutely right and I love your solution of it being done in Athens every year! It is indeed a completely hypocritical, capitalistic thing yet everyone involved likes to hide behind the "'Tis a unifying, politics-free event y'all" bullshit façade of theirs and it makes me sick!
I just have no respect for those who won't take a stand for human rights and use such lame excuses as their shield. And that includes our SF Mayor Gavin Newsom whom I am now quite sick of, and disillusioned with, to the point that if I were ever to meet him (which is a possibility seeing that we now have one friend who is in SF Gov and another one who is running to be and knows the mayor personally) I would not be able to hold back and would have to let loose and let him know exactly what I think of him... that damn lily-livered-Chinese-Government-ass-kissing-slick-dick-politician-moron-with-no-scruples-decency-or-balls! He bent over for the Chinese Government and then some, totally fooled the protesters and everyone else with phony routes and switcheroos he claimed were last minute decisions for public safety (when there was NO rowdiness other than disturbances caused by the pro-CHINA morons surprise, surprise!) and the fact that he even allowed the damn torch to come here in the first place really pissed me off. I guess that now that he has his second term as mayor secured why bother with human rights, right? Damn fucker!
Yeah, this is an issue that gets me going and once I do, there is no stopping me, I'm afraid so, OY! The Tibetan people are people I have been friends with for 13 years now... all of them monks of all things... and they have proven to be the most noble, non-preachy, understanding, open and happy souls and this huge injustice just hurts me to my core.
Glad, and so not surprised, to see you are of the same mind my dear HE... and how lovely to have you here! It does my heart and soul MUCH good indeed! Big huge boho hugs and kisses flyin' your way for I did indeed miss you so!
VG- Why thank you on all counts my dear! And what a thrilling delight to see you here again!!! And writing to me from home, sweet Denmark, of all places! Is it not a beautiful place? Just so many more things for us to talk about when we finally meet in person! :-)
:-) Thank you my dear but seeing how conscious, sweet and sensitive you are I am sure you'll kick my ass at mommyhood and then some when your time comes FO SHO! YEAH!
Totally agree... all bullshit propaganda and it is utterly sick to me that something that Hitler started, of all people (!!!!), still lives on and with suh ridiculous "glory" of all things! It is sick!
So happy to be back! Now I gotta get my ass in gear and post all my other vids and some words to boot... oy! :-)
Besos and oh so mucho love!
Thank you so much for this post and information. I will use it to send emails. I thought of you when I heard about the torch and protests in SanFrancisco - somehow I knew you'd be there. What a wonderful lesson to teach your beautiful children. It was inspiring to watch.
Missed you so very much and glad to see you back (and your visits at my place made my day FO SHO). Looking forward to updates on life in Bohemia. Big neshikot to you dear amiga.
Come on now, don't hold anything back. Tell me how you really feel!
HAHA.
Oh sweet Miz B, I've neglected your page for a few months *shakes head in shame* but I return to see it looking even more beautiful than before.
Sadly I didn't make it down to London to protest over the Olympic Games, I would have loved to have stood my ground and said my piece though.
I'll be creating a whole new blog in a matter of days - I'll let you have the details.
Peace
Miz Nix x
G- No, thank YOU my dear for your sweet words, support and call to action! It is much appreciated and not just by me...
It was indeed special to be there with the kids and have them be as aware as their little minds and bodies allow them to be in this moment in space and time. The horrible thing is that there is a slow, but steady, genocide happening right under our very noses and if we don't make our younger generation care then who will? Sadly, not enough government heads give a damn... you'd think we'd learn from history but...
It is always wonderful to see you my dear Gina... wishing you well always and sending you big, boho neshikot...
Me...
Donn/HE- Yeah, I am transitioning my way over to your new name! :-)
As for my comment... are you really surprised? ;-)
Miz Nix-
My dear Miz, SO happy am I to see you here!
No worries for I have been absent for many, many months and this here post is my first one in a long time so I am afraid you have not missed much!
I look forward to seeing your new digs! Let me know when you are back up and running!!!
